Water Pump noises?

The last time I did my water pump on my 91 200q, it too made the high pitch
noise that you described. I too believe that I tensioned the belt too tight.
It's a big job to get back under that cover including taking the three belts
back off. I lived with it and it went away after a while.

The time before that I had a noise coming from the pulley, sounded more like
bad bearings in an alternator. Yours sounds like the tension on the water
pump is too tight.
