What's wrong with y'all's cars all the time?
I'm on my 6Th and 7Th audis, and the only problems I've ever had - other
than accidents - are the following:
'85 5000 Sedan (Owned 16 months, bought in 1993, 105K - 146K Mi):
Starter, Alternator, CV joints, shocks, blower fan motor - and some little
¢5 & ¢10 stuff, like window switches, bulbs, and a broken wire in the driver
door bundle.
'87 5000 Avant (Owned 13 months, bought in 1995, 136K - 168K Mi):
Starter, Alternator, CV joints, shocks, blower fan motor - and some little
¢5 & ¢10 stuff, like window switches, bulbs, and a broken wire in the driver
door bundle.
'90 100 Sedan (Owned 36 months, bought in 1996, 95K - 148K Mi):
Starter, Alternator, CV joints, shocks, blower fan motor - and some little
¢5 & ¢10 stuff, like window switches, bulbs, and a broken wire in the driver
door bundle.
'89 90 Sedan (Owned 36 months, bought in 1996, 89K - 115K Mi):
Broken alternator belt on the first day of ownership. That's it. Really!
'90 V8 Quattro (Owned 36 months, bought 1998, 156K - 195K Mi):
Air-conditioning compressor & receiver-dryer, starter, alternator, shocks,
blower fan motor, A/C Again! - and some little ¢5 & ¢10 stuff, like window
switches & bulbs.
'98 A6 Quattro Avant (Owned 9 months so far, bought 2001, 57K - 65K Mi so
far):
It needs a little maintenance, like new tires, balance, alignment, and a
brake inspection, but other than that - it JUST started to leak coolant.
'90 V8 Quattro (Owned 2 months so far, bought 2001, 145K Mi? I think):
Alignment - and is now leaking ATF a little tiny bit, and a few bulbs.
Now, is this unusually light duty Audi maintenance, or is it just because I
don't do the work myself that it doesn't seem like much...?
I'd like to see an American - or for that matter Jap car with the kind of
mileage that I had on the Audis, that had less maintenance that I have
described here.
--- For that matter - I'd like to see an American car at the same prices as
what I paid for my Audis - INCLUDING the maintenance, that offer ½ the
amenities and driving pleasure as any one of those Audis - and where can you
find a US car - even with ½ the miles - that needs less maintenance than
that???
Just my personal opinion - and everyone is entitled to it... (lol)
