5k Sway bar? Maybe..

I once heard of someone using a V8 sway bar which was 28 mm instead of the
26 mm standard on a 5Ktq. What sort of mods to the mounts would you have to
do to use a 30 mm bar?

 Interesting tidbit:

While cruising about in search of suspension parts, I found a company
that used to make an aftermarket front bar for the 5k. Sales dropped off
in the early 90s, so they dropped it from their regular product line, but
they
still have the pattern and are willing to custom-bend one according to the
old pattern.

Ball-park WAG price would be, according to the sales guy, ~$150US.

What I don't know yet is how thick a bar it is, whether this was a FWD or
Quattro part, a firm price, or how thick a bar we'd really *want*.

I remember a lister mentioning that he had a 30mm bar and loved it-- who
can educate me more on how big a bar should be and why?

I'll pass on more information on this thing as I get it..
