In most cars there isn't enough clearance to get one on. And it's no
help at all in getting the right torque when you put it back. Since
you have to equip for that, there's no point not using the same
equipment to take it off.

We had this discussion over a year ago. Whenever I hear this tip
mentioned, I always wonder how the party concerned achieves the 80NM
when they put it back. I've never seen anyone else tackle the issue
of getting a torque wrench on that bolt in situ on an ur-quattro
engine - which is one of the things that makes me think some people
here are just reading books and thinking of what the problems _might_
be.

the engine lubricant of your choice *upside-down* for
24 hours to fill them with lubricant and this should
eliminate that clacking on initial start-up.

Who gives a monkey's? If the car's properly filled with clean oil,
they're full before you get back to the engine bay after turning the
key. The only warning note in the manuals is about having them TOO
full.

(Sometime this year Roger and I are going to have a go at the "30
minutes" rule.)
