Just spitballing here (after calling my friendly local metric fastener
supply guys - who didn't have a step like that) - but is using a piece of
steel  rod out of the question?  Do you have any machinist friends who could
turn down a piece of stock, and then use the respective dies to make a 8/6
stepped stud?
