82 coupe heat/idle problem

Hmmm. All the way to cool? on your car that essentially acitivates the
A/C, or what's left of it. And that opens an air valve electrically
that raises the idle by bypassing the throttle body.
on "heat" will the car run if you keep your foot on the gas pedal a
bit? by "heat" do you mean anywhere in the "red" part of the scale?
things to check anyway: vacuum leaks (as always!), mixture settings,
tune up parts in general.
