Power Window motor !>< window?

One of my window's stopped working. This is usually ther result of a dirty
switch, I'm told, but none of the switches were working it, and the
window itself would slide freely up and down (so it won't stay shut..), so
I took the door apart to check it out. I found:
There's a cable that actuates the window. THe bracket that holds the
window, apparently, clamps to this cable, and the motor drives it.
Well, the cable isn't clamped in anymore, so the motor can spin freely
(and did once, actually..) without moving the window. There's also nothing
holding the window shut, so it slides down with every bump.
I'm thinking that the answer is to JB Weld the cable back in place--
anyone have other suggestions or warnings? (Note: Bently talks about the
front window in depth, but doesn't appear to address the rears..)
