Blinker Solution with Eurolights...

Hey all,

This my first post back on the list in about 2 years.  I have an 88 90q
on which I added the H4/H1 Euro lights.  I was the first person, and
maybe the only still, who relocated the blinkers to the existing fog
lights.  It was a fairly simple and straight forward wiring job (basic
wire extensions).  The only PITA was the elbow grease required in
cutting out the back side of the fog light housings.  Basically, I used
a dremel to cut out the backside of the fog light housings and a potion
of the old turn signal housings, then i used some real strong epoxy to
attach the the old part of the signal housing (which obviously contained
the bulb socket) to the back of the hollowed out fog light housing.  I
replaced the clear signal lights with orange bulbs that i picked up at
my local Kragen.  I even left the focusing lense for the H3 fog lights
in.  This allowed the light to spread better.  After I extended the
wiring for the blinkers (about 2 feet will do), i reinstalled the entire
fog light assembly with the new orange blinker bulbs.  The end result
was orange blinkers out of the stock fog lights.  It looks completely
natural and has worked flawlessly for over 2 years.  I decided not to
wire in the old parking lights; i did not think that having two orange
lights below the bumper would look good.  The only problem with this
setup is that the blinkers are not as bright during the day.  At night
they are clearly visible.  You can actually boost the output by splicing
the power wires into both the blinker and parking light inputs.  The
benefit of my system is that it is legal, which is very important around
here since the cops will pull you over for having your license plate
lights out.
