Thanks for your help... It ended up a Vacuum leak... all fixed!

Put the car up on a lift or ramps, get underneath, and mechanically move the
mechanism to unlock the diff. You'll have to find out why it won't release
itself. The mechanism may be rusty and sticking, a vacuum line or diaphragm
may be leaking, the switch may be defective.
