The dealer can only check for recalls that are implemented ... AFAIK the
Bose recall is in process.  I would recommend to folks in the USA that they
consult the NHTSA recall site before contacting Audi.  The NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID
Number is: 01V324000.  Here's the link to the recall search page:

... notice that not all V8s are shown in this report ... and if you enter MY
1990 into the system this report doesn't even show up.  I would recommend
that anyone in the USA who owns a car that has (or HAD) a Bose system in it
from the factory contact the NHTSA and share your concerns with them.  This
recall was submitted over 3 months ago, and the status is still "waiting for
VW" ... You may also want to mention that the recall might not be set to
cover all the possibly affected vehicles.
