200q20v Total Loss?

The 200 went into the autobody shop today. Once there the shop owner
gave it a quick look and said the damage was way more than the value of the
car. He claimed the value at $4500 and the damage to be well over that. He
listed of a load of new parts needed, rocker panel, door panel, front
fender, hinge pillar, and so on. This guy was kind of nasty about it, but
the appraiser will be out there sometime soon. Mum has left all this on my
shoulders now because I "officially" took possession of the car.

Now we'll see what the appraiser has to say. It does sound like they
may total the car in the end of it all. Not sure what to do on this one,
but I know if I was able to find a used door, get the hinge pillar repaired,
and the fender repaired the car would be fine. Though since we are dealing
with an insurance claim this guy wants to go full out new everything
obviously. Maybe I will be taking the money and buying that guy back to do
the repairs at the place that did my 90q20v, which came out VERY well for
$500. OR out comes that engine:)

Damn we van Gerbig's just can't win with cars lately. Mum's Allroad is
going BACK to Inskip because the clutch pedal is pulsating badly, but at
least it shifts properly. Tickets, accidents, broken $50k cars...

Cheers,
