Before anyone starts to panic because of this incident ( the liberal, fear
mongering media for example ) it would be interesting to know who maintained
the mechanical / electrical condition of this particular car. Like other
listers, I'll bet this car had the wrong battery or an incorrectly installed
battery.
Regarding the inability for the driver to escape, I'll bet it was super panic
mode time.
For example, my friends wife actually pulled in an automatic carwash with the
drivers window down. The flashing sign told her to SHUT OFF ENGINE. She did
and then couldn't close the power window. You guessed it - the first spray
bar blew the glasses off her face, followed by an interior of soap suds
followed by another high pressure rinse. ( I don't think she opted for the
wax ) My point is many normal people seem to completely loose any sense of
survival skills in critical situations.
