troubleshooting a New Beetle info (NAC)

Many thanks to all who responded!  I'm going to try to get Mom to hold off
the repair until I can get down there.  Dan, I may take you up on the parts
offer, let me first see if I can get the monkey lads to do some actual
thinking.  I'm still having trouble understanding how a fuel pump relay and
a MAF sensor could both go south at the same time.  (Anyone got a wiring
diagram?)

Maybe I should just spring for the Bentley.
