"hydraulic" and "reliable" in the same sentence in reference to an Audi?
Having some experience with the hydraulic power windows on a 1953
Cadillac, two words come to mind... Guillotine and Unholy mess (when
something leaks.) I'm convinced the "magic eye" rheostat setup for the
lights in this car was designed by the same guy who came up with the
climate control for the 5KS thirty years later...probably as a retirement
joke. Cooler talk at GM engineering was probably along the lines of
"Hey, can you believe they actually sold that vacuum solenoid CC setup to
some German company?", "Yeah, I heard that company is doing strange
things with the steering and brakes, scuttlebut says it'll need 4000 PSI
lines." , "ha, ha, no way..."
