I love the soundgate adapter. It allowed me to install a $150 head
unit into a car and get what I feel is more than acceptable audio for
a car...that otherwise would have required 2x-3x more money to
convert over to a "regular" stereo/amp/speaker setup, even with the
price of the adapter and the labor to install it. The Bose system,
aside from its tendancy to catch on fire, offers rather acceptable
sound when paired with a good source like a CD head unit. Most of
the people saying "Bose speakers suck" have never listened to a bose
speakers with a good head unit. The difference is astounding, and
that's why CDs are the defacto standard. Even the FM modulator
changer can't approach a $100 head unit and the soundgate.

And as for the shop, I stand by my original evaluation that they had
little idea what they were doing installing the adapter; I had to
explain what it was for and how it worked to the installer tech, and
I could have done it myself without problem.

Soundgate offers excellent tech support; call up, a human answers
the phone(gasp) and within a minute I was talking to a tech who
confirmed my suspicion that the reason for the static after a few
minutes was that the soundgate adapter really doesn't like it when
one of the fronts(or rears) is dead. They were also very helpful
when I was initially looking for someone to buy the adapter from.

I'd like to think that I have made my fair share of positive
comments, suggestions, tips/help, reviews and so on, and that even
some of my blunter posts have included all the information that I
know on a subject, not just attitude. However, I also speak my mind
and tell it like -I- -think- it is. If you don't like my opinions or
comments, feel free to dismiss them, I won't be insulted, and like it
or not, everyone has the right to hold and express their opinion.
