Best: PPG Wax and Grease Remover available from the local
body shop supply place.
Adequate: Turtle Wax bug and tar remover, available from
your typical autoparts store.
Once you have removed the adhesive residue, the letters will
still be able to be seen faintly, due the different
condition of the paint underneath the emblem, because it has
been protected from the elements it's whole life. This may
smoothed out somewhat with Meguiar's Fine Cut polish, but
will still be visible if you really look hard.
