[2,500 is a bit much how many miles? There is a good chance that it will
need a new transmission soon.]

"I don't know how you can just come out and say that price sounds too high,
when the car is supposedly in good shape."
I own an 89 100 and a 87 5ks... both FWD with auto trans. An 89 100 in
good condition could be a terrific bargain at $2500 if the car has been
well maintained. Just about any 1989 vehicle in good condition is worth
$2500 according to KBB ... a 1989 Honda Civic with 160 k miles for example.
I'll take the Audi any day.
I've had the 87 for ten years, and the 89 for 7 years. They are both great
cars in my opinion. The main issue would be whether the car has been
properly maintained. These cars cost about twice the price of a Ford
Taurus when they were new. A lot of them were bought by affluent older
folks who >did< take good care of them. And it's entirely possible that
the AT has already been replaced, or that it will never be a problem. Both
of my cars have the original AT and are trouble free. I am aware of the
history of problems others have had ... leaking seal between diff/AT, but
it hasn't happened to me yet. An 89 100 fwd with manual trans would be a
very rare car here in the U.S., BTW. The one problem I think is common to
all of these auto tranny's is the leaking seal at the second gear brake
band, but this seal can be replaced with the tranny still on the car.
