SF Gate: Freak fire traps man inside Audi...

Hi,

With my current door handle problem (passenger side doors not opening from the
inside), and little time to tear the door apart before a trip this weekend, I
called around regarding a device to quickly smash side windows. I talked to a
friend who is a fireman and called a place that sells cop supplies. You can
spend a lot, but I found a perfect "Automatic Center Punch" at a local tool
shop for $4.50. My fireman friend said they used to give these out to firemen
for free.

You just press it against the window until it releases. I have it sitting in
my door compartment for easy access. I will also instruct my kids how to use
it as I have done with flares.

The cool but expensive device is a punch type device with a knife to quickly
cut the seat belt. Since I carry a pocket knife, I didn't feel I needed it.
