something like this needs to be mounted to the car in such a way that if you roll the car it will still be in the same place and should be easily accessible to a passenger as well. also a pocket knife can be very hard to get to if you are stuck in your seatbelt upside down and probably impossible for a passenger to get to if you are unconscious (especially if they do not even know it is there) I think the hammer design with the seatbelt cutter would be the easiest to use especially with gloves on or if your hands are wet (ie. blood can be very slippery)

it as I have done with flares....

The cool but expensive device is a punch type device with a knife to quickly
cut the seat belt.  Since I carry a pocket knife, I didn't feel I needed it.
