Shine Racing Services... I'm pumped!

Well, I went and visited SRS. I've scheduled a full fluid replacement
and an alignment for next Wednesday. Dick Shine, the owner, and I were
talking about the 2.8 12v engine's propensity for drinking oil, and he
agrees that my 1 quart per 800 miles is excessive...  1 full diagnostic
service, coming up!

Can I say that I'm more impressed with SRS than any shop I've ever been
to? How many garages do you drop into that happen to have hanging
around: a race trim 914, a race trim 944, a race trim Mk1 Scirocco, and
a Mk2 Golf stripped down to the body getting a full suspension and roll
cage? And these are the guys that are going to change my oil??!!

Come to find out that they also prototype and build their own
suspensions. Think they'll be able to figure out why I need to make
minor left-right corrections at high (90+ mph) speeds? Ya, probably.

It kills me to think that over the past 10 years, living in two
different houses, I've lived within 5 miles of this place and NEVER
knew it existed!

So my afternoon went like this: found Shine Racing Service nearby and
it was like WEEEEEEEEEE! They're within walking distance to my house
and it was like WEEEEEEEEE! They have their own race cars in the garage
and it was like WEEEEEEEEE! They build their own suspensions and it was
like WEEEEEEEEEEE! They have a VAG 1551 and it was like WEEEEEEEEEE!
Their labor rate is only $60 an hour and it was like WEEEEEEEE! They
run a car up at the Mt. Washington Hillclimb and it was like
WEEEEEEEEE! Today they mysteriously had 3 calls from new potential
Audi-driving customers and it was like WEEEEEEEEEE! I'm probably going
to be spending a lot more money on upgrading my car now and it was
like...  oh, shit. :D
