I woulnd't necessarily say "scarce," as they are as readily available as
for the later version, but they do take a bit more planning to find.

I've been told that the body mount locations do not line up.  Also, the
mose expensive part is the tie rod assembly, and I know for sure that the
later version (usually) has a shorter threaded shaft and won't reach all
the way through the hole on the body.
