What happens when you lock only the middle (front-to-back) diff by putting
the switch in position 1? It should make the car hard to turn at more than a
gentle curve. It will protest and hop a bit, if the diff lock is working. If
it's not, then you have vacuum issues or maybe a bent actuator rod.

My middle diff light takes a bit longer to light than the rear one, but it
does eventually come on.
