I met a guy at Mt Washington last year who had just bought an A6 used
from Dave Flagg up in VT, and he commented that it wasn't exactly a
rip-roarer out of the gate etc. We were talking next to their car,
parked 1-2 cars away from the tent.
"Well, there are some things you can do."
"Really."
"Yep, company called PES makes a supercharger kit."(at this point,
I've got his -full- attention.)
"About one weekend to install and about five thou..."
Clear from the other side of the tent:
"STOP TALKING TO HIM RIGHT NOW!"
Along similar lines(avants and performance toys), Paul&Bonnie Royal
had just recently purchased a 200q20v avant and everyone was teasing
both them about when the racing seats would go in, etc. Both(Paul
with less heart, it seemed) stated that it was going to be left alone
"for a while."
It started to rain and I was next to the avant, so he tossed me the
keys and I rolled up the windows for him. I happened to glance at
the trip computer and noticed something.
"Say, Paul, did you know you had a chipped ECU?"
"Huh?"
"Yeah, display reads .8 bar with the engine off, that means you have
an upgraded pressure sensor...which means you've got a chipped ECU."
"You know, it does seem pretty quick."
