Fan stays on

battery totally flat.  So I put the battery charger on
and the radiator fan came on,when the engine is stone

Tony,
I had this problem with my 86 4kq.  I don't know if the 90q works the same,
but I'll tell you about my fix.
I could usually tell when the fan was running when it shouldn't be, and I
could turn it off by tapping on the relay in the fuse box under the hood.
Thinking that relay was bad I replaced it, but the problem continued.  I
eventually discovered there is a second relay in the fan circuit... hidden
up under the dash.  That relay was sticking and replacing it cured my
problem permanently.
