I wouldn't be overly concerned. There are a number of things that can cause
a different pedal firmness including type of pads, how well the system is
bled etc. Regarding the length of pedal travel, I suspect wear inside the
master and slave cylinders might cause the problem. My wife's 87 5K has a
pedal that grabs right at the top but the brakes are "medium" firm. My 91 2C
has 50 K more miles - the pedal is very solid but doesn't grab until 1/2 way
down in spite of numerous fluid changes & bleeding. I also drive two other
5Ks on a regular basis and each of them feel different. No two of them have
the same feel on the clutch either. Short of replacing all of the
components, I don't know what to do.
