No heat!

There's a device on the side of the airbox that controls the flaps that
direct the air over the heater core or bypassing it.  That's more likely to
give your problem, I think.  It's called the temperature regulating flap
servo motor.  The inline water valve operates on a vacuum, and the normal
failure for the valve is to break apart, dumping your coolant rather rapidly.
