A mouse in the heater? (88 90q)

Obviously I don't have a mouse in my heater, but it sure sounds
like I
do. The car is an 88 90q. Whenever the heater is on a squeaky
noise
comes out of the passenger side dash heater vent. It is quite
annoying
but will go away eventually.

Not so fast - you could have a mouse's nest in your heater. Or, the heater
motor could be on the way out. They make a screechy noise when they get
old.
1. Pull off the black plastic cowl covering and clean out the leaves and
junk in there. A leaf blower works good.
2. If you can get at the brushes for the motor, give it a squirt of WD-40.
On type 44s, there is a black rubber 90 degree elbow hose that provides
cooling to the motor's brushes. Access can be gained there. This is a
temporary fix, but it may last from a few months to a year or more. You'll
have to get a new motor. Your existing motor is 14 years old, and they run
most of the time the car is in operation.
