Have you tried BonAmi? It's a simple powder cleanser that does not
contain abrasives, and you can buy it in your local supermarket.
Just prior to having my winter wheels mounted up, I took some BonAmi to
the brake dust encrusted wheels... came out great. If I could've
somehow gotten my fingers into the little crevices the wheels would've
been spotless.
Just some BonAmi, some water, and some paper towels. Give it a try.
