Tom, totally correct advice, plus you make it all sound so easy!

My experience was rather comical, in my case I knocked the mirror off
myself after ferreting around in the relay panel to remove a relay to check
on another car!

I got the kit from the dealer and dutifully cut out the nylon gauze to
shape, then juggled hopelessly with glue and gauze in the general direction
of the windsheild. I finally gave up when I lost the gauze somewhere between
the seats and then wondered why the glue would not cure.

In other words I didn't (immediately ) realise the importance of the
gauze - it acts as a catalyst for the curing process of the glue. - without
it the glue just stays tacky. So you can take your time applying the glue
and lining stuff up , then put the gauze on the mirror foot at the last
moment and then press onto screen. When I got this right it was a simple
operation, aided by a little wooden a-frame to support the foot overnight
just in case. Its been fine since.

Be sure to remove any original plastic membrane between foot and
windshield (as found on my 87 CGT)

You don't need to go to the dealer for this item, as the same kit is
available cheaper in accessory stores complete with nylon gauze.

    HTH
