Hello all...
I remember seeing a while back someone that had turned a Quantum (syncro?) =
wagon into a pickup by essentially following the pattern that VW used when =
they did the Rabbit pickup (chop behind the driver's seats). I don't remem=
ber the site, but the truck was completely custom down to the specially mad=
e rear window and bed. Tons of work, but it looked unique and I believe the=
owner was planning on using it to pull a VW race car of some sort.
I've always been fond of the station wagon (like the VW type 3 and Golf to =
some extent) but to my knowledge, Audi never made a 4000 wagon (avant?) or =
a pickup on the 4k chassis...I was just wondering whether anyone had ever a=
ttempted a conversion along these lines with a 4000q.
Would it work to adapt a syncro wagon body/mechanicals to accept some 4kq b=
ody parts, interior, bumpers and lights?
What about a 4kq truck project? I know the quantum/4k bodies are slightly d=
ifferent to begin with. Maybe it would be more simple (although not as coo=
l) to make a FWD 4k wagon...
To take it one step further, maybe some 5k wagon parts could be adapted for=
use on the project...luggage rack, trim peices, 5k TURBO motor, etc. Slee=
per central...kind of like MGough's syncro wagon...
Any thoughts, info or "bench-engineering"?
