87 5KTQ Tranny Noise in 3rd

Well by shear luck I happened to notice tonite that the faint noise I
had been hearing for a while now is connected to the tranny being in 3rd
(5sp manual).

It is a bearing type noise (thought for a while that it might be a
vaccum leak).  Noticed that while coasting ~30-40mph with the clutch in
the noise would go away in any gear and neutral, there clearly in 3rd.

It's too cold and snowy tonite to get under ad have a look, but I did
have the tranny fluid checked 6mos ago with no signs of any leaks.

Thoughts of tranny bearings and worse come to mind.  Any BTDT's out
there.
