I did not know that either and it makes me mad.
I have often wondered why we seem to be in the dark ages regarding internal
combustion.
Several times I have had the opportunity to drive euro diesel cars (and once a
sprinter van!) and I can tell you I was impressed. I own a domestic Vanagon and
drove a TD euro model last summer. I can tell you the TD vanagon (eurovan,
whatever..) would flat out blow the doors off the US model especially from 60 to
90 mph. On a trip I ran the numbers and the TD got 29 mpg at 145 km/hr (90 mph)
I love the flat torquey pull they can provided. Kind of like a big bore 4
stroke dirt bike or maybe a Freightliner
I agree, allot of us gringo have a rather high sulfur content. When will we
realize our lives would improve if we had to pay world market prices for fuel.
Bracing for the recoil......
