Jim, watch where you point your "Monkey Lad" statements, I've done over 20 front pulley's myself with perfect results over 5 years. If someone did your pulley and it loosened then it wasn't tight enough, was it? Even the torque ratings are meaningless without the factory tools present.
Considering the mechanic pool out there, however, maybe it is wise to reccommend everyone to go out and buy the exact tools to do the job, I for one have never needed them.
