WRT slaves:
ALL audi chassis/trans designs allow the slave to be R&R without trans
removal (read: in car), or extraordinary measures. The 5k is actually easier
than the coupes/tqc IME. The roll pin is best removed after removing PS
wheel. A socket holding the "pin tool" (a phillips head screw driver works
well if you don't want to buy the real thing) with a couple extensions will
remove the pin easily.
Slave failure is usually due to either too much wear in the bore and/or a bad
piston seal. Not worth the rebuild IMO, tho beck/arnley stocks the kits.
IME the rebuilts need to be hone a bit, and usually don't last as long as
just getting new.
