A6 Clutch R&R

The throw out bearing on my 1995 A6 2.8 Quattro is making noise, the dealer
has verified this and has estimated about $1200.00 to replace clutch,
pressure plate, throw out and rear main seal. My question is what are the
pitfalls of a DIY clutch R&R for a very capable shade tree mechanic? I have
read in the Bentley manual a caution on the handling of the drive shaft to
the rear differential. I believe I saw on the Sachs web page that the job
should take about 7 hours to do, which I figure would be triple for a DIYer.
