Finding TDC

In my introductory foray into waterpump/timing belt replacement on the
wife's 4kq, I was dismayed to find that after I'd located TDC with the
flywheel "0" in the clutch housing window, I had to turn the crankshaft
before I could install the 2084 crank locking tool to break the crank bolt
loose. I also didn't learn until later that after getting the bolt broken
loose, BUT BEFORE REMOVING THE CRANK PULLEY, I should have turned the
engine back to expose the TDC mark and probably loosened the camshaft
pulley also so that everything would be aligned before I took off the old belt.

So now, how do I:

1. Loosen the camshaft pulley safely (without damaging anything) so I can
get the tin off the front of the engine to get the waterpump out.

2. How do I realign the camshaft and get the correct TDC at compression
stroke before putting the belt back in place.

BTW, the 2079 tool appears useless with a 4Kq engine in place. I used a
big 1/2" sq drive breaker bar with a short extension to the socket to
loosen the bolt. I can't see any way to manipulate the 2079 in the engine
compartment.
