oil warning light sender/Re: coolant temp sensor pic

I had to laugh at myself thinking about Huw's response and my confusion later, since it was only last
weekend I replaced the coolant temp sender responsible for the gauge with a different one. I was just too
anxious about the stupid oil light to think clearly about much of anything. That and the exhaust manifold
tick got way loud all of a sudden, compounding my aggravation.
Here's a question. How often have people experienced a repeated failure of the sender for the oil warning
light, after biting the bullet and replacing it with the near $100 replacement part? (Where's the best place
to get one of these? I have an inquiry in with TPC, and got a price back from SJM ($96.15). Seems damn
expensive to me, especially if they just break sometime between immediately and 16 years.)
If a new part is as likely to fail as the original ones are, then maybe I'll just do without a bulb in the warning
light at all. Most cars don't have such a warning anyhow, I believe. And I think the I5's are pretty robust in
the oil pressure department, right?
Thanks,
Ken
