5kcstq coil spring rust, powder coating?

Hello list,

I received my second-hand Eibach 5kcstq springs today.  I was disappointed to find that the paint had
worn off of some of the coils where they apparently touched.  Where the bare metal is revealed, there is
surface rust.  The paint is flaking away from the exposed areas as well.

I don't much like that idea, rust on the springs.  So, I'm interested in having them powder coated to protect
them from further degradation.  It's not terribly inexpensive, but since they were originally apparently
painted, I'm thinking repainting them will just postpone this from happening again.

I would like to read any comments anyone has on this problem and my idea for a solution.
