I don't know what brought this on but...

Steve-did a fast VW 16V GTI blow your V8q off the road or what? I thought
this list was for a higher good, promoting Audi ownership among people who truly
love the cars. I don't mind the references to the Japanese cars because all of
us like and want the feel of a German car which is very different from any
Japanese car. I didn't know this forum was for venting name calling (etc) the
cousin brand and possibly alienating other listers who do (or have )own VW's. I
am a former owner that has fond memories for those cars. Yes, the Audi does
have better engineering compared to a VW, but there are areas, in my opinion,
that the VW way was superior. Of course that is what we call "cross over"
engineering. Saving costs for the company. We should count ourselves lucky
that VW didn't pull Audi from North America after the 60 minutes fiasco and
sales nose dived.

I think Dave (not sure) is correct with analyzing VW's plan to make VW the
MB fighter and Audi the BMW killer. Just by the recent emails flying about
comparing Audi vs BMW etc...

Yes, they are. And it isn't just The Parent holding the strings, it's
our own government regulations! The US has outdated regs that prevent the cool
TDI cars from coming to our shores. And you probably can put in the oil
companies with our government too.

Yes, it's ok to vent but this should be off list.

Sorry for taking up bandwidth but reading about "hating" something irks me.

Thanks for putting up with my rebuttal...now back to your scheduled program....
