Fellow listers,
As some of you already know I'll be starting the 20vt 3B conversion in the
coupe quattro in a little less than 2 weeks!!!
So far I've already pulled the engine out of the car, the whole
drivetrain/suspension ensemble is lying on the ground and most of all, I've
already pulled and sorted the engine harness!!!
I don't know how the american 3B harnesses are made but the european 200
ones are red from the ECU to the fusebox/dashboard so it was pretty easy to
spot and to remove, and finally all the connections are sorted out as well
with the help of Phil Payne's 200 20v wiring schematics...
I think there must be something like 5 or 6 wires that will need to be
plugged at the fusebox so this isn't likely to be the hardest part of the
conversion... At least I hope so :-)))
I'll be using an urq MB intercooler along with a set of Samco hoses for the
RR engine (20v urq for those who don't know yet!) because I don't want to
move the hood latch to another place yet....
Now for the practical stuff, I'll let all of you guys know what happens as
soon as I start the job or at least as soon as it's finished... I'm hoping
to start on Saturday the 20th of July and to finish everything the next
day, hopefully time will tell if I'm too optimistic or not....
My wife will also be acting as a photograph reporter so hopefully
everything will be well documented and there's going to be a write-up about
the conversion in English on Nate's website (I didn't forget about you
Nate, it will soon be time to give me some hosting space for the pics and
stuff :-))) ) as well as in french on my own homepage...
Well it's getting late now so if anyone has a bell to ring about something
that I should know, please do and I'll follow your advice as much as I'll
be able to!
Later,
Mihnea
