Thanks, Konstantin. That was my post Ben was replying to.
I managed to extract the seal today with a couple of large sheet metal
screws holding some fender washers and a couple of pry bars boinking off a
piece of maple I laid across the front of the oil pump casting. I thought
I was going to fail when the #10 sheet metal screws pulled right out of the
1/8" holes I drilled, but #12 screws in the 3/32" holes I drilled did the
trick.
So Bentley describes a fancy two-part sleeve tool to install the new
seal. Can I just use a couple of sockets that are about the right
size? Bentlely says to oil the seal lightly. Would a skim of petroleum
jelly work any better?
