Bose speaker recall notice

Is the Bose problem an RPM whine in the speakers?  I recently bought a '93
90q and thought the PO had screwed something up when he replaced the dead
Bose head unit with a Rockford Fosgate.  I was going to take it in to a
designer audio shop here, but if this is the recall problem I'll try the
replacement first.  Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks
