well, I finally got time to take another look at my PITA ISV.  Still no
joy...

No - it still closes :-(

Hmm; possibly.  It certainly *looks* very closed (and gives a very audible
click as it changes).

Good, as far as I can see.  checks out fine with an ohmmeter, and
disconnecting it (presumably equivalent to opening it) makes the engine
rev.

Guess I'd better give the Audi dealership a ring tomorrow.  Oh well;
