5KCSQ dies & wont restart for a few minutes

As a counterpoint, when my oxygen sensor was bad, I did not notice it at all
until the car failed emissions.

The poor idle and starting behavior seems to me more like a leak in the air
intake system.  I can get my car to behave much like you describe by
removing the oil level dipstick.  BTDT by accident one rushed morning.

Clearly, YMMV.
