The dealers were knocking off at least a few thousand to move those cars
and to get past the buyer resistance left over from the unintended
acceleration fiasco. If I remember correctly, there was about a 3 grand
markup on those cars over dealer invoice, and some dealers gave it all away
just to get the cars off the inventory and stop the interest payments to
their bank.
