Good point.  Also, getting those flanges aligned well matters.

As far as the crimped nuts, a small sledge and a hard surface can be
used to make your own - get a bunch to experiment.  hitting them too
hard makes these funny oval nuts (oval bolts are expensive and not
necessary, IMHO), not hard enough and they are still normal nuts.  get
it right and they turn on, but not by hand, and stay put quite nicely.

I guess I am saying you should set your nuts on an anvil and whack them
with a hammer.
