Questions about buying a new ALLROAD

I don't know if you want to wait+swing the
extra$$$, but the Allroad is most likely going
to get the 4.2 that's being specially developed
for it. The new 4.2 will have timing chains on
the back, rather than the belts on the front.
Audi is going for this because of the length of
the block. The 4.2 bodied A6 is 37 mm longer
than the sixes to accomodate the longer 4.2.
Audi engineers felt that the 37mm would
compromise the offroadability of the Allroad, so
they decided to develop the new engine. It's 90%
certain that the engine is being designed for
the US in mind.
