Here are the results...
1990 200TQW, 1991 TQ Intercooler, 1.8 - 1.9 bar chip, 1.8 bar spring, Bypass
Valve, Bilsteins, Redline in tranny and diffs
Outside Air Temp - 64F
Humidity around 35-40%
Car completely warmed up.
Gas tank full (Chevron 91 octane)
Flat test area
2 runs each
Avg of 2 runs
3rd gear, start at 1600 rpm for all tests.
2000 - 3000 RPM (29 mph - 41 mph) 3.25 and 3.16, avg = 3.205 secs
3000 - 4000 RPM (41 mph - 55 mph) 2.47 and 2.50, avg = 2.485 secs
4000 - 5000 RPM (55 mph - 66 mph) 3.13 and 2.94, avg = 3.035 secs
One 5th gear run per Bernard, start at 1600 rpm
2000 - 3000 RPM (54 mph - 75 mph) 10.90 secs (tells me to shift AT LEAST
into 4th when passing...)
Some notes. Car was pinging at little, but I still hit 1.9 bar on every
run. I used a stopwatch, not a data logging device plugged directly into
the engine outputs, and I was worried about accuracy, but the split's
between the times are really close, so I think this is accurate enough.
BTW, my wagon is pretty damn fast looking at the numbers. I'm rather happy
with it...
Comparing to Dave Eaton's post of June 13
mph rs2 s2 rpm range
20-40 5.7 3.8 (1515 to 3030)
30-50 3.2 2.9 (2723 to 3788)
40-60 2.8 2.9 (3030 to 4545)
50-70 3.6 3.8 (3788 to 5303)
If I get time, I'll repeat Dave's tests above tonight or in the morning.
I'd do it at lunch but it is been in the 80's here, and I don't think it
would be fair.
It doesn't look as though my wagon is THAT slow compared to the Euro Super
Cars. I'd think that at 2.0 bar and water-injection, I'd probably get close
to the S2's 30 to 50 times. With EFI, RS2 turbo, 3.5 BAR and an exhaust I'd
give the RS2 a run for his money...
More to follow...
