Recently, the wipers on my 1987 80 started squeaking really badly. Then
suddnely the squeaking stopped and I could see the tip of the driver's side
wiper blade come round the edge and start wiping the driver's door window.
Lotsa excess play...
Found a low-mileage vehicle in a scrapyard, no play in the wipers
whatsoever. Took the mechanism, decided to clean it up and white
lithium-grease it. It's now in my car, I've never had a car with wipers
this quiet.
