I was unable to clean my seized pump. The part of the rotor which houses
the magnets is deep and hollow and goes over a long stub in the plastic
housing. Rust particles stick to the magnet and accumulate between the
stub and the rotor, effectively seizing it. High pressure water won't
help here. The plastic rotor housing is glued shut and I was unable to
open it without breaking it into pieces. If you are lucky enough to open
it without breaking it, you might remove the rotor, clean it, then glue
the housing back together. Just remember it has to withstand heat and
pressure of the coolant...
The first thing to do is to check if the seized rotor is really your
problem - remove both coolant hoses from the pump (if you quickly plug
them or use a piece of pipe to connect them together you won't lose much
coolant) then short the two wires which are connected to the afterrun
switch. Use a flashligh to peek inside the pump to verify if the rotor
is spinning.
